Programs & Curriculum
A 20-month-old and a four-year-old need very different days. Your child joins the group that matches their age and follows a curriculum built for that stage — and you pick the schedule that fits your family.
Toddlers
12–35 months
Our youngest bees follow Experience Toddler (Mother Goose Time), a themed curriculum designed for this age, with fresh materials arriving every month.
- Monthly themes: storybooks, sensory bins, art, and dramatic play
- Sign language and early communication for children still finding their words
- Movement and gross-motor play for new walkers and climbers
- Self-help independence: hand washing, feeding, tidying up
Preschoolers
3–5 years
Preschoolers move to a separate, more structured track that builds real kindergarten readiness — still hands-on, but with longer projects and higher expectations.
- Early literacy: letter sounds, rhyming, name writing, and lots of read-aloud time
- Math readiness: counting, sorting, patterns, shapes, and measuring
- Science, art, and music with an emphasis on the process
- Kindergarten habits: multi-step directions, taking turns, solving problems with words
The groups learn separately and play together: instruction happens at each child's own level, then everyone shares outdoor time, music, and free play. Younger children stretch to keep up with the big kids; older children learn how good it feels to be the helper.

3.5 hours • morning or afternoon
A gentle introduction to preschool life — perfect for young toddlers and first-timers easing into their day away from home.
Full Day
8.5 hours • 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
The full curriculum with all meals and snacks included, rest time, and daily backyard play. Our most popular option for working families.
Part-Time
2 or 3 days a week • choose your days
Half days or full days on the days you pick — a great fit for hybrid-work parents and families easing into childcare.
Also available: flexible drop-off and pick-up times, daily and hourly drop-ins, and before/after-school care for school-age children up to 13 years. Just ask — we will do our best to make it work.

We keep our groups small on purpose. With only two to four children per teacher, we can follow each child's curiosity instead of marching a crowd through a timetable.
Blooming Bees: Fostering Young Minds Through Play
At Blooming Bees, we believe children learn best through play, warm relationships, and hands-on exploration. Research from Harvard University shows that the first few years of life are critical for brain development and future resilience. Playful, back-and-forth interactions with caring adults build the foundation for focus, memory, and self-control.
- We create playful, responsive interactions every day—reading, talking, singing, and exploring together to support healthy brain development and lifelong learning.
- We follow a structured monthly curriculum and still leave room for the questions children bring us that morning, supporting the whole child: social, emotional, cognitive, and physical.
- Weather permitting, children play outside daily to build gross motor skills, confidence, and a love of nature.
Montessori and Play-Based — Why We Do Both
Parents comparing preschools in Sammamish often ask us to pick a side: the ordered independence of a Montessori room, or the joyful mess of play-based learning. We do not think a young child has to choose, and we deliberately blend the two.
What we take from Montessori
- A carefully prepared environment, with purposeful materials on low open shelves that children can reach and return on their own.
- Freedom within clear limits, so a child chooses their work but also learns to care for it and for the room.
- Unhurried stretches of concentration, plus practical life skills — pouring, buttoning, tidying, serving snack.
What we take from play
- Teachers who get down on the floor as play partners, asking questions that stretch a child's thinking rather than directing it.
- Themes that grow out of what the children are curious about that week, alongside our planned monthly units.
- Open-ended materials and a focus on the process, not a perfect finished product.
The result is a room that is calm and orderly enough for a two-year-old to feel secure, and lively enough for a four-year-old to invent a whole world out of blocks. Everything we plan is grounded in child development research: activities are matched to each child's stage, not their group's schedule, so toddlers explore with their hands and senses while preschoolers stretch into words, ideas, and pretend worlds.

Meet Priya & Blooming Bees Learning Center
I'm Priya, the Director of Blooming Bees Learning Center. I opened Blooming Bees to give children something a larger center cannot easily offer: a small group, a familiar face every morning, and an adult who has time to notice them. My work is grounded in child psychology — understanding what a behaviour is really telling us, and helping children learn to name and manage big feelings.
Credentials & Training

- Certified in child and adult CPR
- Professional coursework in early childhood development from Harvard University
- 5+ years in early education across the Lake Washington and Everett school districts
- Ongoing annual training in child development, health, and safety
- Focused study in the psychology of young children — emotional regulation, secure attachment, and gentle guidance
